HARDVARD STUDY LINKS PRO-INFLAMMATORY FOODS TO CANCER
A proper calorie adjusted diet can have you looking great and at a healthy weight even if you eat your fair share of junk. However, Body Elite has always suggested a diet consisting of “real food”. Food that’s minimally processed. At Body Elite it’s not just about the look, but your health. This study backs up our approach
A study published online Jan. 18, 2018, by JAMA Oncology suggested that certain foods can drastically increase the risk of colon cancer.
Researchers tracked the diets of more than 121,000 people for 26 years.
Participants recorded their dietary intake and were scored based on foods they chose. Red meats, processed sugary food and drinks, refined grains were considered “pro-inflammatory foods.
Participants high with "pro-inflammatory" foods had a 44% greater risk of developing colon cancer compared with those who had what was deemed “low inflammatory” diets. These diets consisted of dark green leafy vegetables and whole grains.
After adjusting for other cancer risk factors the “pro-inflammatory” group was still significantly higher comparatively.
We acknowledge you can look great eating you fair share of junk. However, it’s harder to stay in a calorie deficit due to the calorie dense nature of junk food. It also supplies a lack of satiation and can spark terrible binges. On top of all of that study after study shows the negative health benefits of highly processed food. This study being one of the latest.
