Carbs are not bad!

I’ll say it again for the people in the back…CARBS ARE NOT BAD

If I had to give it a number, I would say about 75% of people that I work with on nutrition talk to me about how they’ve tried cutting out carbs because they “know” they are bad for them.

There are not too many topics that get me fired up, but carbs are the biggest one.

I don’t know where carbs being “bad” originated from, but either way it needs to stop.

No nutrient is inherently bad. Too much or too little of any nutrient could be considered bad including fats and proteins. Any of these nutrients can cause you to gain weight if you consume too much because you are consuming too many calories.

I want people to look at carbs as fuel for their body, not something negative.

Let’s be honest. Do you really want to cut out carbs or most of your carbs to lose weight? Because I sure do not. If you can’t still enjoy yourself while losing weight, you are doing something wrong.

Everything is in moderation. Yes, it’s easy to eat too many carbs and end up consuming too many calories. All that means is that you need to be aware of how much you are consuming and that goes for all types of foods.

Try focusing on keeping your portion sizes to the recommended amounts. See how much better you feel during your workouts and just in general.

If you ever need any help, reach out to any of us and we will get you set up and on track to understand how to use food to your advantage.
