POOR VS ADVANCE TECHNIQUE
Poor technique and advanced technique can be one in the same. We get caught in the fitness industry with this one size fits all mentality. We see an article or headline on our social media feed and we take it as the golden rule for everything Health and Fitness. When we all know and or experienced how one thing is right or correct for one person and can be totally wrong for the next.
One of my favorite examples for this is the squat. They’ll be some publications or fitness influencers that preach squatting what we call “ass to grass”. This means squatting so deep that your butt almost touches the ground. On other hand you have fitness influencers that may preach not to squat past 90° or squat at all. Who’s right in the situation? It depends on context. Who is the influencer talking to? What is their audience? If they are making a blanket statement then I would say they are wrong. Usually they have specific target in mind.
We even see this with nutrition. How one diet may be great for a certain type of person, but be totally horrible for the next. I see this a lot with people who attempt intermittent fasting or the ketogenic diet. For some these two diets are great. For many others it’s a crash and burn situation.
So you could see it’s all in the eye of the beholder or where you are at in your fitness journey of whether you have poor technique or an advanced technique.
To Your Health,
